Exploring Aeon Mall – Kyoto’s underrated shopping mall

Across the road from Kyoto station is a large shopping complex known as Aeon Mall, featuring an abundance of unique Japanese stores.

A hidden gem in my books, but after many years of visiting and living in Kyoto, I finally visited the Aeon Mall across the road from Kyoto station. This multi-floor shopping complex was a surprisingly fun and adventurous experience for my friend and I, featuring stores with our favorite characters from Japanese pop culture.

Fashion Galore

The amount of stores at Aeon Mall is quite uncanny, particularly in the realm of fashion.

Mont Bell and Uniqlo were among many quality clothing stores that offered affordable outfits for all occasions.

It was fun to see the mascots of bears and other interesting mannequins on display at the shop fronts.

Awesome Anime Merchandise

One of the coolest aspects of these clothing stores were the unique anime-inspired items on offer.

As a Dragon Ball fan, seeing this awesome Golden Frieza varsity jacket was a sight to behold!

Even though I didn’t buy anything, strolling through Aeon Mall was a delightful experience with plenty to see and appreciate, especially as a fan of Japanese anime and manga.

Fun & Games For All

Regardless of whether you’re a fan of Japanese pop culture, you can still enjoy the arcades and game areas of this amazing shopping mall.

From the Anpan Man rides to the Big Claw machines and the spectacular Gundam museum, Aeon Mall promises a good time for all!

So the next time you’re at Kyoto station with a bit of time to kill, be sure to check out this highly underrated shopping mall for a memorable adventure!
