Café Di Espresso makes the best iced coffee drinks in Japan!

I will never forget the taste of the Café Di Espresso iced latte I had after an exhausting tennis match on a hot summer’s day in Osaka.

It was one of the hottest days of the year in the middle of July, and I had just completed an exhausting clay court tennis match with a friend I’d met online.

Given I’d traveled all the way to Osaka from my home in Kyoto for this event, I intended to spend the day here. Carrying my tennis racquets and my laptop bag, I searched for a café in the area where I could refresh and get some work done.

The Perfect Iced Coffee?

That’s when I stumbled upon Café Di Espresso – a humble little café located just outside Hommachi station in Osaka.

Just a short walk from the Utsubo Tennis Center where I’d just finished playing, it was the only café I could find in the area with decent seating and wasn’t totally packed out.

I was welcomed by a friendly middle-aged man at the counter who took my order for an iced coffee (hot coffee was not an option in that heat!).

What came to me was a cup of what appeared to be a standard iced latte drink, but the first sip completely blew me away!

Perhaps it’s my obsession with Japanese milk that caused this reaction in me, but somehow this drink was far creamier and smoother than any other iced coffee I’ve had.

A Fantastic Work/Chill Zone

As a certified “Kohikan,” that is, a “coffee museum” (bit of a stretch with the wording), Café Di Espresso aims to provide its customers with an optimal coffee-drinking experience.

This means everything from the quality of its specialty coffee blends to the comfort levels of its seating area and even its Wi-Fi and charging ports are optimized to give you a memorable visit.

For me, I was able to get a whole lot of work done with the spacious table and comfortable chairs which even accommodated my giant-sized laptop!

I’m not quite sure why, but this particular Café Di Espresso branch left a mark etched in my memory that other cafés haven’t quite had me feeling.

I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Osaka!
