I was fortunate enough to upgrade to a deluxe cabin, which includes a private room, bathroom, and two single beds.
You also get a window that lets you enjoy the vast views of the great Japanese Sea as you make your way overseas (or…on the seas?) to Korea!
If you go for the standard rooms, you’ll be sharing a space with other passengers, but will have your own designated floor space where you can lay down and take a nap.
Onboard Facilities
Of course, you don’t need to be confined to your room throughout the cruise. Many opt to hang around the common areas or enjoy the onboard facilities like vending machines and arcade centers. It’s not much, but you can get microwavable street foods like takoyaki, Korean fried chicken, and yakisoba noodles, not to mention drinks. Truthfully, most people seem to bring their own food onboard, which is actually allowed through customs, unlike flights, so don’t hesitate to take on board your own groceries and takeout!

Depending on how choppy the seas are, you may not be allowed to go outside on the deck, so listen out for announcements by the crew. Either way, you can still enjoy spectacular views of the Sea of Japan from the safety of the ship’s lounge areas. All in all, traveling from Japan to Korea via ferry could prove to be a cost-saving option with a unique experience, allowing you to enjoy the journey just as much as the destination!
