Cote House is an apartment building along the Dotonbori River owned by the humble and kind Ken and his cheeky but friendly cat Miao.
Located a short walk from the Dotonbori River and the heart of Osaka, Cote House is a cute little apartment that has everything you need!
For just 5,000 yen (35 USD) per night, you and a friend can enjoy your own private room with shared facilities, an ideal location near Dotonbori, and the company of an adorably naughty cat!
Awesome Amenities
My brother and I booked a 2-week stay at Cote House after finding a special sale with a whopping 3 nights free on booking.com.
Despite having shared facilities such as bathrooms, showers, laundry, and kitchen space, I was pleasantly surprised by how many private amenities there were in our room!
We got our own sink and basin with a mirror, a refrigerator and freezer, a desk with an office chair, two comfortable beds, and our very own television set!
Meet Miao!
If you’re staying at Cote House, you’ll notice a furry little creature by the name of Miao (yes, it’s pronounced “meow”) lurking in the hallways.
This little guy won’t necessarily greet you with joy, but he will certainly follow you around and attempt to get into your room at every opportunity.
In all honestly, spending time with Miao is absolutely therapeutic and a nice touch to the whole Cote House experience.
Lots Of Fun, But Be Wary!
As fun as it is to have Miao follow you into the elevator, walk into your room, and jump onto your bed, be wary of the risks!
Ken, the owner of Cote House, warns guests not to let Miao into their room for too long, as he won’t hesitate to “do his business” on your bed if he’s there long enough.
Nevertheless, chilling out with Miao in the common room can be a great way to enjoy all the love and warm feelings of owning a pet without the responsibility of taking care of him!
Osaka’s Nightlife Just Around The Corner
Now to actually address the title of this article, Cote House is indeed located in the quiet part of Dotonbori, but it’s also not too far from the main hub as depicted in the photo here.
If you’re a light sleeper or prefer to control the amount of noise in your life, Cote House is ideal to keep you in charge of that perfect balance.
You can spend a few quiet hours at a nearby cafe and quickly transition to the party vibe atmosphere of Dotonbori’s nightlife in an instant!
Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible.
