Diver City’s Shinshu Sojibo brings halal feeds to Odaiba!

In the heart of Odaiba’s iconic shopping complex Diver City, Shinshu Sojibo offers halal-certified tasty soba noodles and katsudon!

Halal options were once a daunting task for Muslims in Japan, but no longer! Nowadays, there is a plethora of halal options in Japan that stretch beyond the standard kebab shop and actually feature authentic Japanese cuisine.

My most recent discovery is Shinshu Sojibo, a 100% halal-certified Japanese restaurant located in Odaiba. Serving up specialty soba noodles from Japan’s Shinshu region (now known as Nagano), this restaurant has received amazing customer feedback for its quality of food, value for money, and fantastic location!

In the Heart of Odaiba!

Along the beautiful Tokyo Bay is an artificial island and entertainment district known as Odaiba. Renowned for its Statue of Liberty monument, iconic Rainbow Bridge, and teamLab Planets, it’s become a popular travel destination of interest for people worldwide.

Perhaps it is for this reason that Shinshu Sojiba has opened in Odaiba, bringing halal food to the many Muslim visitors who are part of the city’s growing global popularity.

Simply head up to the 6th floor of Diver City, the big shopping center in the middle of Odaiba to access Shinshu Sojiba. There’s a huge Gundam robot in front of the building, so you can’t miss it!

Amazing Soba Sets!

Quality noodle soup is what Shinshu Sojibo is all about! Choose from thin-cut soba noodles or thick-cut udon noodles bathed in delicious savory soup and a side of assorted tempura vegetables and seafood!

You also get pickled vegetables on the side, dipping sauce for your tempura, and also complimentary tea (available hot or cold). You can typically expect to pay between 1000–2000 yen (7–13 USD) per set.

Soulful Katsudon

While this restaurant specializes in soba noodles, Muslims may be more inclined to go for the katsudon dishes as this is where the true value of halal food can be appreciated, as seafood such as tempura prawns are typically permissible anyway.

Katsudon is a Japanese dish consisting of fried chicken (or pork, but in this case, definitely chicken!) and a savory egg omelet on top of a steamed rice bowl.

Shinshu Sojibo offers a variety of delicious katsudon dishes that can be enjoyed as part of the soba set or as meals on their own.

Indian-Style Curry

In addition to being an authentic Japanese restaurant, they also offer dishes such as Indian curry for those craving a little more spice!

This can be a good option for vegetarians and vegans as there is no meat included in the dish.

All-in-all, Shinshu Sojibo is one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants I’ve had that is 100% halal-certified, but even if you’re a non-Muslim, I’d highly recommend it to you too!

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs.
