Japan’s BMI Cola drinks use dietary fibers to help you stay in shape

Using special ingredients such as indigestible dextrin dietary fibers, Japan offers a range of BMI Cola drinks that help with fat absorption!

We’re all familiar with the classic Diet Coke, Coke Zero, and Pepsi Max (among countless others). Japan takes the idea of zero-calorie cola to a whole new level with its range of BMI-friendly cola soft drinks. Using a special ingredient called indigestible dextrin, a type of dietary fiber, they go above and beyond to not only have no sugar or calories but also to absorb your body’s fat and improve digestion.

Kirin Mets Cola

I’ve talked in a previous article about Mets Cola being one of my favorite exclusive Japanese cola drinks.

By default, Mets Cola is a no-sugar, zero-calorie soft drink and I attested to how great it tasted in comparison to Coke Zero and Pepsi Max.

Retaining that same taste that I love, this variant of Mets Cola has that special dietary fiber ingredient which also assists in fat absorption and food digestion.

Given that it retains the same name as your typical Mets Cola drink, it’s best to look out for the BMI symbol denoted by the logo, with the stick man stretching his arms up in the air.

Coca-Cola Plus

Stamped with that classic BMI Cola seal of approval, this special white bottle is known as Coca-Cola Plus.

Again, using the same special dietary fiber ingredient to help with fat absorption, this drink is perhaps the healthiest alternative in the world of Coca-Cola beverages.

In terms of taste, I’d liken this drink to a cross between a Coke Zero and a Pepsi Max as it has some of the latter’s familiar sweetness to it, though not as potent.

Special Zero Pepsi

Last but not least is Special Zero Pepsi, winning top spot for the best packaging as far as I’m concerned (I mean look at those beautiful golden letters!).

Of course, with the big English letters making it blatantly obvious, you don’t need me to mention the BMI logo at the bottom to know that this is another fat absorption BMI-friendly cola!

This drink tastes quite different from anything from the Pepsi series. I’m not sure why it doesn’t exist in other countries, but this is essentially what a “Pepsi Zero” would taste like as an equivalent to Coca-Cola’s Coke Zero.

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs. So whether you are traveling individually or as a group, the JR Pass is every traveler’s go-to for getting around and making the most of your time in Japan!
