Enjoy magnificent views of Kameoka at Heiwadai Observation Deck

About an hour’s walk from Kameoka station, Heiwadai Observation Deck overlooks this scenic city of Kyoto with spectacular panoramic views.

I previously wrote about my visit to the Nakayama Pond in Kameoka. On the same route, one can journey further beyond to reach the spectacular Heiwadai Observation Deck. Offering panoramic views of Kameoka’s countryside city, it’s one of the most rewarding treks in Kyoto!

A Pleasant Walk

Unlike the mountainous trails of Mt. Hiei or Mt. Daimonji, the trek to the Heiwadai Observation Deck is rather pleasant.

With a steady incline and a walking duration of about 30 minutes from the Nakayama Pond, it’s easy enough for anybody!

During autumn, the trees are quite magnificent with their spectrum of gold and brown colored leaves.

A Double Decker!

Before you know it, you’ve reached the top of the hill! What lays before you is a white double-decker platform that looks out to the city of Kameoka. On the bottom deck are seats where you can enjoy a good rest underneath the shelter. It’s a great spot to scoff down an onigiri I might say.

On Top of the World!

Nothing beats a cool breeze from the top of a mountain. As the surrounding trees rustle in the wind, life seems to come into perspective as you gaze at Kamoeka’s beautiful countryside. The mountain ranges that inspire strength and firmness in action are stretched far and wide as the eye can see.

Picture Perfect

Stunning green hilltops, bright golden farmlands, and a brilliant blue sky. That’s what I call picture-perfect! The way the clouds project shadow spots on the hills is a nice touch too. There’s no doubt that Kameoka is one of the most scenic cities in Kyoto, and the Heiwadai Observation Deck is the best place to appreciate it!
