Lotteria is a major Korean fast-food burger chain with stores all over Asia. How does Japan’s Lotteria menu fare against the Korean original?
Lotteria Japan
Unique burger and drink options
Lotteria in Japan may look just like the original from Korea at first glance, but a closer look at the menu will prove otherwise.
From my experience, I found the menu in Japan to have far fewer items than its Korean counterpart, however, it somewhat made up for it with unique exclusive items.
For instance, this double beef pepper burger delivered a powerful flavor to remember, while the green tea shake was a delicious add-on that I didn’t see in Korea’s Lotteria stores.
Smaller portion sizes
Sizes are typically smaller in Japan, whether in clothing stores or restaurants, so this wasn’t a huge surprise.
Instead of small, medium, and large, the sizes felt more like small and medium, even if they do call it large, and the burgers seemed smaller too.
That being said, I didn’t mind the smaller portions as it meant it was easier to try out a wider variety of the menu in one sitting!
Lack of dessert options
You can always count on Japanese restaurants and fast-food chains to have some sort of café menu available for coffee and tea.
However, the dessert menu was certainly lackluster when it came to providing delightful desserts like ice creams and cakes.
While they had a few items like churros and melon soda float, it certainly wasn’t as extravagant as Lotteria Korea’s dessert menu.
Lotteria Korea
Higher quality burgers
There’s an immediate difference both in presentation and taste when it comes to Lotteria in Korea.
Their double bulgogi burger features two patties of Korean-style beef with plenty of vegetables and savory sauces constructed to perfection.
Needless to say, the portion sizes are far larger than Japan’s Lotteria and the sheer variety of burger options is unmatched!
More fried chicken options
Not only does Lotteria Korea excel in their range and quality of burgers, but also in their side options too!
Korea is known for its succulent fried chicken, so it’s no surprise this iconic Korean fast-food chain has a dedicated menu for fried chicken options.
Like Burger King and KFC in one, Korea’s Lotteria is truly impressive when it comes to both quantity and quality of food.
Amazing Korean desserts!
The picture says it all. Korea’s Lotteria stores offer amazing desserts including their national favorite delicacy Bingsu.
This refreshing dessert consists of shaved ice topped with ice cream, sweet red beans, syrup, and fresh fruits.
In addition, Lotteria Korea has a vast dessert menu including ice creams and sundaes resembling that of McDonald’s and many cool and interesting milkshake varieties too.
The Verdict?
We all knew this was coming, after all, you can’t beat the original! Korea’s Lotteria is truly miles ahead of its Japanese branches, from the variety of its menu to the quality and size of its food, but it’s not all doom and gloom for Japan. Japan’s Lotteria still manages to offer exclusive items you won’t get anywhere else, so that’s got to count for something!
