M Stand is a Chinese-owned franchise that grew in popularity throughout Kyoto, offering a range of delicious coffee & matcha beverages!
M Stand has truly been one of my favorite coffee spots in Kyoto city. With branches all over Japan, China, and Asia at large, I’ve been totally blown away by the branch near Sanjo station. Overlooking the beautiful Kamo River, it offers scenic views of Higashiyama, Kyoto Tower, and the mesmerizing city lights.
The Three “M”uskateers
The last time I visited M Stand, I tried their delicious matcha coconut water drink, but this time round I wanted to expand my horizons. Along with my two companions, I also ordered the iced matcha latte and fruity iced coffee. Truthfully, the iced coconut matcha still takes the top spot in my books, but the others are equally delicious and refreshing!

There is plenty of “M Design” merchandise at the Sanjo store, too!
Offering everything from drinking bottles to hot water flasks and even exclusive coffee beans!
You can also get cool accessories like handbags and mugs with the M Stand logo imprinted as a nice memento.
M for Memories!
I know not what the “M” in M Stand stands for, but amazing memories is definitely a feature of this beautiful Kyoto cafe. I highly recommend the rooftop seating area for an unforgettable experience!
