A review of Little Asia Guesthouse – the best location in Kitakyushu!

Kitakyushu is the land where mountain and sea meet, and Little Asia Guesthouse is the ideal way to experience Kyushu island’s natural beauty!

Located a short walk from Kokura station is the cheapest and best guesthouse you’ll find in Kitakyushu; Fukuoka Guesthouse Little Asia.

This hostel is a favorite among both travelers and Japanese nationals, creating a fun and exciting vibe of different cultures and backgrounds mingling together!

Ideal Sleeping Environment

The bedrooms are absolutely calming and rejuvenating here at Little Asia Guesthouse.

Carpeted floors, thick blankets, pillows, and a spacious capsule is a recipe for comfort!

Perhaps best of all is the room’s thermostat and dehumidifier which work brilliantly together to create cool breathable air, perfect for Japan’s hot summer nights!

There are also lockers for you to store your belongings so you can sleep with the peace of mind that your valuables are safe and secure.

Enjoy Free Manga Comics!

If you’re into Japanese manga comics, there are stacks of them on the bookshelf in the corridor.

They are free to read and you can take them up to your room for your entire stay (just return them when you leave).

During my time at Little Asia Guesthouse, I thoroughly enjoyed reading chapters of my favorite manga series Dragon Ball (definitely made for great Japanese reading practice!)

Other featured series here include Naruto, Detective Conan, Hunter x Hunter, Magi, and more!

Walk Along the Murasaki River

The location is absolutely ideal for those trying to gauge the vibe of Kitakyushu. While Little Asia Guesthouse is positioned in the host club and pub area of Kitakyushu, a quick walk down the street takes you to the beautiful Murasaki River.

This stretch of water extends all the way into the mountains, cutting through the cities of Kyushu island and passing through the wonderful Kokura Castle.

Climb A Mountain!

The best part about Little Asia Guesthouse is that the city and the country are equally accessible.

So whether you feel like hitting the town for some shopping or climbing up a mountain (or both!), you can do it all on foot!

I personally recommend climbing Mt. Komonji if you consider yourself physically fit, but you can also check out Adachi Cemetery or Riverwalk Kitakyushu for less strenuous options.

I always say climbing mountains is the best way to see a city, giving you the best free observatory points in a way that is spiritually rewarding.

Chill In The Common Room

Whether you’re starting off your day with some online work or Internet browsing (like me) or unwinding after a tiring day of exploring Kitakyushu, the common room is the perfect place to do it!

With comfortable sofas, free tea, coffee, Wi-Fi, and power sockets, you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere on your own or in the company of friends and fellow travelers.

The common room at Little Asia Guesthouse is a place to relax, meet new people, and get some work done!

It’s also a great place to enjoy some home-cooked meals or takeaways, and with its selection of different tables, you can dine in the traditional Japanese way (sitting on the floor) or the standard modern way (chair and table).

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs. So whether you are traveling individually or as a group, the JR Pass is every traveler’s go-to for getting around and making the most of your time in Japan!
