RIHGA Royal Hotel review – the best way to experience Hiroshima

RIHGA Royal Hotel offers the most luxurious stays for holidays and business in Japan and is an incredible way to experience Hiroshima.

Incredibly helpful staff

In a country where English is very much a secondary language, Hiroshima’s RIHGA Royal Hotel staff were incredibly well-versed in English. Not only were there Japanese receptionists who were exceptionally fluent in English but there were also Native English-speaking receptionists who were fluent in Japanese.

They explained the check-in and check-out rules as well as the various services and amenities with no barriers to communication. They were also extremely helpful in sending my luggage to my next accommodation in Sendai, saving me the hassle of traveling with heavy suitcases.

Breathtaking views of Hiroshima city

Aside from the lovely staff members who welcome you in and take your luggage, the first thing that’ll take your breath away is the incredible view overlooking the city of Hiroshima. From the stunning background of mystical mountains to the lush green plantations and crystal clear waterways, it’s truly a site to behold.

If you’re staying in Hiroshima for one or two nights, the RIHGA Royal Hotel provides the perfect view of the prefecture. I’d recommend going for the superior room option for a higher altitude view that really lets you soak in the city’s beautiful landscape.

Picture-perfect backdrop

If you’re not a fan of outdoor exploration, the hotel room provides the perfect backdrop for an indoor stay. You can spend an entire day at the RIHGA Royal Hotel and still feel like you conquered Hiroshima!

The room itself has plenty of amenities from pure mineral water to a wide-screen television and an amazing bathroom and shower. Not only does it include the usual toothbrush and shaver packs, but also an entire skincare routine comprising four different lotions and face creams.

Ideal location to access local delicacies

While there are room service options for food at the RIHGA Royal Hotel in Hiroshima, I’d urge you to try the local cuisine instead. Hiroshima is Japan’s hub for the delicious seafood pancake dish known as okonomiyaki (お好み焼き).

The dish originated in Osaka, but Hiroshima’s spin on okonomiyaki incorporates a layered design where the noodles, egg, and fillings are neatly separate, a style preferred by many lovers of the dish.

Just down the road from the hotel, a plethora of these okonomiyaki restaurants can be found at Okonomimura, an entire building dedicated to competing okomiyaki stores.

Walking distance to Peace Memorial Park

One of the major attractions of Hiroshima is the Peace Memorial Park. Here, you can view the famous dome building that has stood tall since the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II.

Locals and tourists can be seen flocking into the park during the day to pay their respects and remember those who have passed. You can reach the park from RIHGA Royal Hotel on foot, about a 10 minute walk from the lobby.

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs. So whether you are traveling individually or as a group, the JR Pass is every traveler’s go-to for getting around and making the most of your time in Japan!
