Sapporo’s Toriton offers endless variety of premium sushi

Sapporo is Hokkaido’s capital city and home to amazing high quality foods. Toriton brings the freshness of the Japanese Sea to your plate!

It’s not my first visit to Torition, but this time around I came with a bigger budget and bigger appetite! I strived to try as much of the menu as possible this time from the more niche nigiri dishes to exploring the gourmet dessert menu too!

Cheesy, Flame-Grilled Nigiri

Easily my favorite dish among the “niche” options would be the cheesy flame-grilled series.

These dishes feature torched pieces of fish with a cream cheese topping, available as salmon, tuna, or prawn nigiri.

The taste is quite toasty and the blend of grilled fish, cheese, and spring onions is so flavorful and dynamic in textures that you don’t even need soy sauce!

Plentiful Proportions

One of the standout features of Toriton sushi is the proportions of their toppings, particularly their nigiri dishes.

The maguro tuna sashimi is thick and plus-sized, its tails extending from one edge of the plate to the other.

Honestly, it’s long enough to fit two oval-shaped rice balls underneath it, but the idea is to get that uneven proportion in favor of the raw fish!

Perfect Marbling

Speaking of the raw fish, the quality is just as plentiful as the quantity, particularly the salmon sashimi dishes.

Perfect marbling not only looks fantastic but also delivers the perfect ratio of fat to protein so that you get the “melt-in-your-mouth” experience!

The sushi chefs like to sneak in a dab of wasabi between the fish and the rice, so keep that in mind when considering adding extra wasabi.

Unmatched Desserts!

I’ve been to my fair share of sushi restaurants, but few can rival the level of quality and delight of Toriton’s dessert menu. Maybe it’s the Hokkaido effect, but some of these dishes are a true reflection of the premium standards of dairy in this region of Japan. Whether you go for the Fromage Pudding or the Chocolate Soft-Serve, Toriton’s desserts will have you in the best of moods!
