Shinagawa Guesthouse – best accommodation near Odaiba

Not only is Shinagawa Guesthouse a fantastic budget hostel for travelers, but also the best way to see Odaiba’s high-tech entertainment hub!

A short walk from Shinagawa station in Tokyo, Shinagawa Guesthouse provides affordable accommodation in a prime location near Odaiba’s high-tech entertainment hub.

Offering low costs of under 5000 yen (35 USD) per night, comfortable beds with workspaces, and a prime location in a quiet but upbeat area, it’s a budget traveler’s dream come true!

Clean, Comfortable Rooms

You can tell from the photo that these rooms are very well-kept, albeit a little on the small side (it’s a budget hostel after all).

Regardless, they still manage to fit a cabinet, a workspace with a desk and chair, and plenty of room for your luggage.

The beds are equipped with curtains, lamps, and power outlets to charge your devices.

I found the mattresses to be very soft, almost like memory foam, and I had no trouble falling fast asleep every night that I stayed here.

Beautiful, Spotless Streets

Shinagawa Guesthouse makes sure to provide you with all the necessities from showers to kitchen areas and in-house coin laundry services.

However, the best part about Shinagawa Guesthouse is the location, just walking distance from Shinagawa station on Japan’s most popular Yamanote Line.

The walk to and from the station to the hostel is quite pleasant, with pebbled walkways, clean streets, and nice little shopfronts along the way.

There are also plenty of convenience stores and vending machines within the same street, making life at Shinagawa Guesthouse blissfully accommodating.

Walk Along Shinagawa Bay

Shinagawa is often referred to as “Shinagawa Bay” because of the huge body of water that permeates through the city and the many harbor side boats docked in the area.

As a guest at Shinagawa Guesthouse, it makes for the perfect scenery for a casual stroll around the area, really adding to the seaside vibe of the town.

Odaiba Is Just Around The Corner

As you continue to walk along Shinagawa Bay, you’ll eventually reach Oimachi station, where you can take a short direct train to Tokyo Teleport station (cool name I know) and emerge in the heart of Odaiba!

As you may or may not have guessed, Tokyo Teleport station is named as such because you are essentially being teleported to a place that feels outside of Japan (I mean, there’s a Statue of Liberty there for goodness’ sake!).

This is in fact a real Statue of Liberty gifted to Japan by France in the same way the New York version came to be, so no, it is not a replica but an original!

So Much To See!

It’s not all American-looking landmarks at Odaiba, after all, there’s nothing more Japanese than a giant robot inspired by an anime series.

There’s also the famous rainbow bridge just around the corner from Diver City’s shopping complex which lights up with stunning rainbow colors at night.

In addition to sightseeing in Odaiba, you can get involved in fun activities such as TeamLab Planets and Legoland Discovery Center.

At scheduled times of the day and night, the giant robot lights up and performs movements, an awesome feat that you can witness for free!

Great Feeds At Every Turn

Shinagawa has its fair share of great restaurants and izakayas, particularly around Shinagawa station.

However, you’re better off hitting up Odaiba for food as they have floors upon floors of restaurants and cafes at Diver City shopping mall.

We stumbled upon this authentic Japanese restaurant on one of the top floors, where we enjoyed delicious soba noodles, tempura prawn, and chicken katsu rice bowls!

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs. So whether you are traveling individually or as a group, the JR Pass is every traveler’s go-to for getting around and making the most of your time in Japan!
