The 5 best parks I visited in Japan in 2025

2025 was quite an explorative year for me, having visited stunning parks in prefectures from Japan’s south all the way through to the north.

Nara is one of those places that gives a country its soul. Home to beautiful scenery & friendly deer, it’s truly the nature capital of Japan.

Kyoto / Park

Kyoto is home to a plethora of scenic outdoor parks that showcase Japan’s natural beauty and seasonal color transitions.

Tokyo is known for its hustle and bustle atmosphere and concrete jungle, but these 5 parks provide a serene escape for calm relaxation.

Exploring Tokyo doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, in fact, you can totally soak up Japan’s capital city without spending a cent!

Taking the kids to a playground (or dare I say yourself to a playground) doesn’t have to feel like a chore with Kameoka’s scenic Asobi No Oka!

Kyoto / Park / Uji

As a writer, the best thing about Japan is that there’s so much to write about! Minamioshima Park invokes feelings that must be expressed.

I often addressed the Sarusawa Pond as “Nara Lake” for its captivating beauty and tranquility that practically defines the Nara Prefecture.

Kitakyushu has all the natural beauty I long for in Japan. Mountains, forests, and sea come together on this journey to Enmeiji Rinkai Park.

Another hidden gem I found without meaning to is the scenic Hassamu Riverside Park in Hokkaido’s capital city of Sapporo!
