Tokyo Imperial Palace offers gorgeous gardens for scenic strolls

Not only is Tokyo Imperial Palace the royal home of Japan’s Emperor, but it’s also a scenic area with amazing walking paths for the public!

Located in the heart of Tokyo is the iconic Tokyo Imperial Palace where the current Emperor and royal family of Japan resides. Home to cultural heritage and stunning architecture, it’s also an amazing place for a leisurely walk with friends and family!

An Iconic Backdrop

One of the most iconic shots of the Tokyo Imperial Palace is the lake, bridge, and palace backdrop that looks nothing short of a work of art!

The palace grounds stretch long and wide as you stroll along the sandy pebbles that surround the Imperial Palace. Don’t worry, there are plenty of concrete walking paths in the area too if you don’t want to dirty your shoes!

The East Gardens Walk

I’ve always found the East Gardens of the Tokyo Imperial Palace more impressive than the palace itself. Well-kept gardens consisting of flowers, shrubs, and bushes are manicured in such a way as to present a neat and tidy pattern all along the palace’s surrounding lake.

Personally, I love how the trees and bright blue sky reflect brilliantly against the crystal-clear lake to create a perfect mirror image to admire as you stroll along! It’s also pretty cool to see the contrast between nature and the city with the backdrop of Tokyo’s business buildings and residential apartments.

The Night Brings A Whole New Vibe!

During the night, a whole different vibe takes place as the streetlights around Tokyo Imperial Palace light up the surrounding cities and reflect brilliantly against the lake.

So whether you’ve arrived in the early hours of the morning or the late hours of the night (or anywhere in between!) I would strongly recommend taking a casual stroll around the iconic Tokyo Imperial Palace, home to the Emperor and the royal family of Japan!
