Exploring the Yodogawa Bridge – Mukaijima’s signature landmark

The small humble town of Mukaijima is home to the iconic Yodogawa Bridge crossing over Kyoto’s beautiful Uji River.

The Yodogawa Bridge is located in Mukaijima, Kyoto, and acts as a link for railway trains to cross over the Uji River. Several walking paths under and around the bridge provide scenic views which I highly recommend.

Finding the Yodogawa Bridge

The best way to access the Yodogawa Bridge is to take the Keihan Railway Line train to Kangetsukyo station and walk from there. You’ll find a stairway that leads under the bridge where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Uji River.

Stunning Sunsets

I highly recommend visiting the Yodogawa Bridge around 5 pm to enjoy the stunning sunset. You will see brilliant sunlight reflections against the Uji River and you also get to enjoy seeing the trains running across the bridge.

Breathtaking Beauty

It’s not all about the bridge as Mukaijima’s natural beauty surrounding the Uji River is amazing to see on its own. Thousands of tree branches along the water and mountainous backgrounds are a sight comparable to some of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth!
