Yoyogi Park is the heart and soul of Tokyo City

Just around the corner from the concrete jungle of Shibuya city is the nature wonderland of Yoyogi Park, the heart and soul of Tokyo.

Trees Galore

Yoyogi Park is a public communal park in the heart of Shibuya district in Tokyo.

Trees stand sky-high and even when you walk on a tall overpass you are still under the shade of these giant branches.

This park is a great getaway from the noisy concrete jungle of Shibuya, but you still get to enjoy beautiful views of its cityscape from afar.

Christmas Festivities

If you’re lucky enough to be in Tokyo during Christmas, you’ll be blown away by the spirit of the season that Japan is truly capable of.

Yoyogi Park is perhaps the best place to see Christmas lights as endless rows of trees light up in a brilliant blue glow.

Thousands of people flock in to enjoy the festivities as food stalls, music, and shows light up the night.

Blue Paradise!

The breathtaking blue paradise of Yoyogi Park is known as the Shibuya Blue Cave Illumination and occurs for about a week every Christmas season. When I visited in the Christmas of 2018, there was a piano performance going on where the lights would flash in correspondence to the rhythm of the music. Honestly, it was a magical night at Yoyogi Park!

Meiji Shrine around the corner!

The best thing about Yoyogi Park is its location being so close to so many awesome and iconic Tokyo attractions.

Meiji Shrine is just around the corner and can practically be considered a part of Yoyogi Park as they share much of the same trees and walkways.

Adjacent to the Meiji Shrine is the hip fashion town known as Harajuku where the famous Takeshita Street can be found.

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs.
