Café Restaurant Gusto is the best place to eat for families in Japan

A clever combination of Japanese and Western cuisine, Café Restaurant Gusto is the best restaurant for when you can’t decide what to eat!

If you’re in Japan for any amount of time, there’s a pretty high chance you’ll come across a Café Restaurant Gusto in whatever area you’re staying in.

Open past midnight, this family-friendly restaurant offers tasty affordable food from the East and the West. So whether you’re craving a bowl of Japanese noodles or Italian pasta, Café Restaurant Gusto is the place for you!

Delicious Japanese Set Meals

An easy ordering system using a touchscreen tablet with English language settings, Café Restaurant Gusto makes it super easy to scan the menu and order food to your table.

It gets even more exciting when the food is delivered by a friendly robot waiter, just be sure to pick up your tray off him when he arrives at your table!

I ordered a delicious unagi eel over rice set which came with a bowl of tofu miso soup and a fried ebi shrimp with egg mayo.

Western & Hybrid Options

Of course, we had to try more than the Japanese cuisine and see what the Western food options were like!

Scanning through the menu, we discovered a “matcha green tea pizza,” a strange-sounding combination that we simply had to try.

All-in-all, it tasted like a regular Margherita cheese pizza but with a slightly bitter taste, courtesy of the matcha topping.

We also went for a bowl of leafy pesto spaghetti which tasted better than any pasta I could make at home!

Amazing Coffee & Free Refills!

For just a few hundred yen, you get access to the drinks bar which includes soft drinks, juice, tea, and coffee.

Since they had both hot and cold drinks, I made sure to try everything from the cappuccinos to the milk teas and matcha lattes for some post-meal relaxation.

For a family restaurant, Café Restaurant Gusto’s coffee was of an unexpectedly high quality, and that’s coming from an Australian (the land of coffee snobs).

If you’re in Japan by yourself or with friends or family, head on down to your local Café Restaurant Gusto for a cheap feed and a memorable dining experience!

Of course, if you are planning to visit Japan, you’ll need a way to get around the country as efficiently and affordably as possible. Japan Rail provides an abundance of travel passes to suit your travel needs.
